1. Licensing & Compliance
Maslow’s Loom programs follow all relevant local, state, and county safety regulations for after school and recreational programs. Our practices are designed to align with national quality frameworks like Maryland EXCELS. All our policies reflect a commitment to transparency, compliance, and care.
2. Staff Training & Certification
Annual CPR, First Aid, and AED training (in partnership with certified organizations)
Ongoing education in child safety, conflict de-escalation, sanitation, and inclusive supervision
Background checks and reference verification prior to hire
Children are always supervised by trained staff with strict adult-to-child ratios, varying by age and activity.
3. Allergy Awareness & Food Safety
We operate a nut-free environment and take food allergies seriously.
Parents must disclose all allergies and dietary restrictions during enrolment.
Children with known allergies follow a separate snack protocol supervised by staff.
No food sharing is allowed during program hours.
Cleanliness & Hygiene Protocols
All spaces are cleaned and sanitized daily using child-safe disinfectants.
Shared materials (toys, craft supplies, etc.) are sanitized between uses.

5. Illness & Injury Management
We follow a “Stay Home if Sick” policy. Children should not attend if they display symptoms such as:
Fever over 100.4°F
Vomiting or diarrhea
Persistent cough or sore throat
Rash of unknown origin
If a child becomes ill during the program:
Parents/guardians are contacted immediately.
The child will be separated and comforted in a supervised area until pick-up.
In case of injury or medical emergency:
First aid is administered immediately by trained staff.
Emergency medical services will be contacted if necessary.
Parents/guardians will be notified right away.
6. Emergency Response & Communication
Staff are trained in fire drills, lockdowns, and natural disaster response.
Emergency contacts must be up-to-date at all times.
Parents are informed promptly of any incident requiring attention.
A designated Health & Safety Lead is on-site during all operational hours.
Supervision & Security
Children are signed in and out by approved adults only.
Visual supervision is active at all times, indoors and outdoors.
We maintain clear adult-to-child ratios:
1:10 for younger children
1:12 for older children
8. Inclusion & Accessibility
We believe that all children should be able to participate fully. We welcome children with disabilities and offer support through:
Individual accommodations and support plans
Staff trained in inclusive recreation
Accessible program spaces in accordance with ADA guidelines
Parents can request accommodations during registration or anytime thereafter.
9. Behavorial Health & Emotional Safety
At Maslow’s Loom, safety is emotional as well as physical. Our staff:
Model respectful, nonviolent communication
Use positive behavior reinforcement and redirection
Address conflict with empathy, fairness, and reflection
We partner with parents to support children’s emotional well-being through open communication.
10. Program Closure Due to Health or Safety Risk
In rare cases where health or safety risks require program suspension (e.g., infectious disease outbreaks, facility hazards), families will be notified immediately and offered appropriate credit or refunds, as per ourCancellation Policy. Note to Parents: You are a vital partner in keeping our programs safe. Please keep your child’s information up to date, and don’t hesitate to reach out with questions, concerns, or suggestions.
Waiver and Release of Liability
While we take every reasonable precaution, parents/guardians acknowledge the inherent risks in group settings.
By enrolling, you agree to release Maslow’s Loom and its staff from any liability for injuries or losses that occur during participation, except in cases of gross negligence.
